Baby Basics
A two-hour, hands-on class that covers newborn care essentials, what to expect at the hospital, and includes a take-home booklet so you feel confident bringing your baby home.

Welcoming a newborn is a beautiful experience, but it’s also a major transition filled with many questions. This two-hour class is designed to prepare expecting and new parents with the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on practice needed for those first weeks at home. Together, we’ll cover all the essentials of newborn care, including feeding, burping, bathing, diapering, umbilical cord care, swaddling, and soothing techniques. We’ll also go over safe sleep practices, how to recognize and respond to your baby’s cues, and practical tips for building a daily routine that works for your family.

In addition to home care, we’ll discuss what to expect during your hospital stay—from the first moments after birth to common newborn procedures and screenings—so you feel informed and empowered during your baby’s earliest days. Throughout the session, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, practice skills, and receive personalized guidance tailored to your family’s needs.

Each family leaves with a printed booklet that summarizes all of the material, giving you a reliable reference guide to use at home whenever you need reassurance. By the end of class, you’ll feel more confident in caring for your little one and better prepared for the journey ahead, knowing you have the tools and support to make this transition a little less overwhelming and a lot more joyful.
